With the holidays coming up, it’s important to update your Google My Business listing to reflect your close down dates.
Google My Business has become a holy grail for customers to check contact details, location, opening hours and other important information about a local business before contacting the business or driving to a store, which is why it’s important to update your listing before your business closes down for Christmas.
Often businesses forget to do this, and customers don’t know if the business is open or not. This leads to confusion and customers are often left with a negative experience with the business when this happens. So, this holiday close down period, don’t forget to update your listing.
Here’s how you can update your Google My Business listing details for the close down period.
- Login to Google My Business
Head over to business.google.com on your browser and log into Google My Business.
- Update Your Close Down Dates
Navigate to the “Info” section in your Google My Business dashboard
Then click on edit against the calendar icon.
Google already has the list of public holidays in New Zealand listed here and you just need to confirm what your hours are for those days.
To confirm your dates, click on “Confirm Hours” against the dates, and then turn the blue slider off to mark that day as being closed for your business.
If you want to add a new closing date outside of the stat days, scroll down to the bottom and click on “Add New Date”. Choose the date from the date picker, and then turn the blue slider off to mark as closed.
Then click on Apply.
You can also create a post in your Google My Business listing with details about your close down period and when you will be re-opening. To create a post, navigate to the post section on your dashboard.
Next, click on the “add update” option.
You can add a creative, write your post and hit publish once you are done. Posts usually expire after 2 weeks.
