How to Update Your Google Business Profile Listing for Christmas Close Down

With the holiday season fast approaching, now is the time to update your Google Business Profile (formerly Google My Business) to reflect your Christmas and New Year close-down dates.

Your Google Business Profile is an essential resource for customers looking for your contact details, location, and opening hours. Customers may assume you’re open if your profile doesn’t reflect accurate information, leading to frustration and negative experiences. Avoid this by taking a few minutes to ensure your business details are up to date.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you update your Google Business Profile for the holidays.

Log In to Your Google Business Profile

Head to Google Business Profile Manager and log in using your Google account credentials.

Update Your Holiday Hours

From your dashboard, navigate to the “Edit Profile” section.

Notify Customers with a Google Post

Let customers know about your holiday schedule by creating a Google Post:

In your dashboard, go to the “Add Update” section.

Write a short message with your holiday closing and reopening dates. Add an image or graphic to make the post more engaging. Click “Post” when you’re done.

Remember, these type of Google Posts typically expire after two weeks, so time your post carefully if you’re announcing your schedule early.

Why Keeping Your Profile Updated Matters

A well-maintained Google Business Profile makes sure your customers can rely on accurate information about your business, building trust and improving their experience. By updating your profile for the holiday season, you’re reducing the risk of miscommunication and keeping customers informed.
