What We Did
Fine Line’s website didn’t send search engines (E.g. Google) enough of the right signals to be ranked highly, so they were struggling to be found online.
We dramatically increased the amount of content on their homepage, as well as on their product and service pages.
The website also got a visual upgrade, and we created a blog to further increase the content signals that Google looks for.
Their SEO campaign included:
- Technical SEO – improvements to their website indexing and searchability factors
- On-page SEO – improvements to their page titles, meta descriptions, headings, social proof, and other “trust” signals.
- On-page SEO also included increasing the quantity of information on their key web pages.
- Off-page SEO – attracting links from helpful and informative blogs in the building and home improvement space throughout New Zealand.
The focus on SEO resulted in significant improvement in search engine results.
After only 12 months, Fine Line have gone from ranking on page 2 and 3 of the search results, to consistently ranks #1 and #2 for more than 10 of the most important keywords in their sector.

One of the keys to the success of their SEO campaign was off-page SEO. Off-page SEO focusses on attracting links from other websites around New Zealand.
It is critical that these links are from local websites (Hamilton and New Zealand), as links from random “.com ” websites from around the world can be quite harmful to ranking.
In Fine Line’s case, we have been able to quadruple the number of local domains that are now linking to their website. Google sees these links as “votes” in favour of Fine Line, and has greatly assisted their #1 ranking.
